Nearly 60 people took part in the swimming across the Danube River initiative near Kozloduy

On August 25th nearly 60 people, form 6 to 67 years old, took part in the swimming across the Danube River initiative near Kozloduy. The initiative, which doesn’t have a competitive nature and was held for the first time 50 years ago – in 1962, was organized by “Kozloduy NPP” EAD and Kozloduy municipality.

The participants were transported with boats to the center of the river where the start of the swimming challenge was given. For the ones that managed to complete the distance to the riverbank, the finish line was set at the “Ray” holiday complex. The safety of the swimmers was guaranteed by ready for action well-equipped rescue teams in boats and a medical team.

Maria Ilieva – deputy executive director of “Kozloduy NPP” EAD presented the participants with special certificates and souvenirs. The youngest swimmer was the 6 years old Maria Nikolova, and the oldest among the participants was Zahari Boyadjiev – 67 years old.
