Telenor donated 50 CAT S52 smartphones for medics from the Military Medical Academy, Pirogov Hospital and Sofia’s Emergency Medical Service Centre.
The CAT S52 smartphones are developed to be more durable to the challenges of the environment and can be cleaned multiple times with soap, sanitizers, chemicals, bleach, and alcohol without this affecting their proper functioning. The phone’s cleaning can be as often as washing hands. The medics on the frontline in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic are among the people at the highest risk of infection and with these devices they can stay connected to the world and the internet without any additional health risk.
“These CAT S52 devices are top-notch for operating in harsh and difficult environments. They’re up to the task for supporting our medical professionals and anyone else needing a rugged mobile phone that can be easily disinfected”, said Telenor’s CEO Jason King. “Telenor is grateful to all Bulgarian emergency and medical service professionals for their heroic efforts in the fight against Covid-19 – and I hope this donation will make it easier for them to keep in touch with their colleagues and loved ones”, King added.
The donation is part of the company’s efforts in support of Bulgaria’s fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. In March, Telenor donated some BGN 200,000 for purchasing of critical medical equipment for the new intensive care unit where coronavirus patients will be treated at Sofia’s Pirogov Hospital, and in the beginning of May, together with its parent company PPF Group, Telenor made the single largest private donation of 50,000 N95 protection masks, worth nearly BGN 500,000, to the Ministry of Health.
The company also donated over 70 PCs for the needs of underprivileged children in different regions of the country for their continuous education during the state of emergency. The company also provided numerous benefits for its clients to help them stay connected to their loved ones, to manage their businesses and to receive important information during the emergency with COVID-19.
