At a meeting in the Foundation’s office representatives of the financial institution and For Our Children team members discussed the success of the joint partnership and the results that would be achieved in 2017 thanks to the donated USD 20,000. C
Citibank will invest the amount in the development of foster care and services provided by the Early Childhood Development Centre which is about to be created.
"Within City’s global initiative mottoed Pathways to Progress we view our partnership with For Our Children Foundation as an example of responsible business behaviour. Our satisfaction with this partnership and real change in the lives of foster children to which we contributed was the reason why we renewed our support for another year. The entire team of Citibank in Bulgaria is extremely sympathetic to the Foundation’s cause and we are grateful that we were able to support it individually, too", Stanislava Taneva, Managing Director of City Bulgaria, said.
In 2016, the financial institution provided support for 12 foster children and families making it possible for the kids to receive 24-hour care in a secure family environment, while kids with disabilities or difficulties in their development were able to get rehabilitation, specialized therapy and medication. Bank employees also supported foster care by organising and taking part in an art event and a picnic on Mount Vitosha for more than 20 foster children and families. The event was dedicated to the bank’s global voluntary initiative Global Community Day. They also provided various items and Christmas gifts to more than 40 foster children in Plovdiv.
"In a year with the support of Citibank For Our Children managed to bring happiness to 12 children who had faced a lot of difficulties and challenges. I am pleased that in the face of Citibank and all of its employees we have found a partner and ally in our mission to improve the lives of the most vulnerable children in Bulgaria. Thank you for your confidence in our organisation and the opportunity to make more children happy ", Ivanka Shalapatova, FOC executive director said.
In 2017 Citibank Bulgaria will continue to support the work of the Foundation in the development and provision of quality foster care while also supporting the creation of an Early Childhood Development Centre in Sofia in the building of the St. Sofia medical care home which was closed down thanks to the foundation’s efforts.
