Project Aim

At Devin we work with the mission of connecting people and nature for healthier life, we are responsible towards the environment and encourage our millions of consumers to protect nature for future generations. With the future in mind and with the belief that good habits are developed at an early age, 2 years ago we joined forces with Blue Flag to develop the first large-scale project for introducing the global EcoSchools program as a standard for environmental education in Bulgaria. With "Enter the Green Circle" project we enable the introduction of a successful model for eco education. Our main goal is to build the largest network of EcoSchools on the Balkans and prepare the children of Bulgaria as active citizens who take responsibility for the sustainable transformation of the future.

Project Target Group

The aim of the project: building the largest network of EcoSchools on the Balkans, defines the main target group, namely all Bulgarian schools and kindergartens. EcoSchools is the largest global program for sustainable education, it starts in the classroom and through its methodology and activities extends to society, engaging not only the young, but also teachers, families, friends, institutions and businesses. Main target reached with support of Ministry of Education and Ministry ofEnvironment

Project Duration

As part of the global BCorp community our priority is to have positive impact on the world by using business as a force for good. We follow our sustainable business strategy "Source of Change" with the mission to connect people and nature for healthier life and supporting local communities for the sustainable transformation of the future. The past 2 years we have been working on establishing sustainable environmental education and have introduced the program in over 150 schools and kindergartens

Project Activities

We set off by finding a reliable partner - Bulgarian Blue Flag movement, who have years of experience in managing environmental education programs, and have available both methodology and specialists. We contacted the Ministries of Education and Environment, who recommended the EcoSchools program to be included in the curriculum of Bulgarian schools and kindergartens. We presented to media the methodology and the steps that schools must go through in order to become certified as EcoSchools. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment. On the same date (October 6) in 2022 and 2023, we held full-day training for teachers and principals from the schools that joined the project in the respective year. We printed and distributed EcoSchools implementation handbooks to all teachers and created a video to inspire children, teachers and parents with our mission. We dedicated a special place on the platform Vedri.bg where schools can get information, monitor their progress and learn from each other. Media regularly cover the steps schools go through and various initiatives and projects they are involved in, as well as the international recognition and awards they receiv

Project Results

The greatest achievement of the project is undoubtedly the fact that it creates generations of sustainably minded, environmentally conscious people who carry through their lives the behavioral patterns adopted under the auspices of EcoSchools and in turn teach the next generation the habits and skills to make the best choice for their future and that of the planet. Interest in the Green Circle in the second year of the project grew threefold, with 151 new schools joining. 50 schools and kindergartens participated in the first year with 1390 teachers, 15078 students and 869 members of EcoCommittees, including students, teachers, parents, local authorities taking part in activities. News about EcoSchools has over 140 coverages in national and regional media, reaching over 5 million people.
