Project Aim
Once every two years we conduct online polls with all our 300+ colleagues in Bulgaria, Kosovo and North Macedonia to choose thematic areas in which the company can make its social contribution. For 2023, these were: education for children, social support for disadvantaged people, environmental protection and ending violence against women and children. We address issues in these four focus areas by supporting credible, sustainable and with proven social impact NGOs every year.
All our employees are part of all selection processes. We engage them in meetings, workshops and presentations with the selected NGOs to educate them, ignite their interest, inspire them to volunteer, be activists and donate. By doing so, we increase our contribution to the community.
Project Target Group
All Kin + Carta employees in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Skopje, and Pristina – 300+. Together they all chose focus areas, and the NGOs we support, participated in meetings and workshops with the NGOs we support.
All the beneficiaries of the selected NGOs:
In Bulgaria: Bulgarian Foundation Biodiversity, Association for Shared Learning ELA, PULSE Foundation, and Atelier “Hug me”.
In North Macedonia: Foundation Lulka (Cradle), helping families with premature babies.
In Kosovo: SOS Children's Vill
Project Duration
Year-round.
By 2018, we had deployed CSR efforts in a piecemeal way. Kin + Carta (Formerly Melon) employees have always loved it: suggesting and participating in various non-profit initiatives and voting to include CSR activities at annual team-buildings. It was only natural to structure all our efforts and match them with a budget to complete our Responsibility Program. The process was designed in 2018 and after assessing the impact, we decided to upgrade and develop it up until 2024.
Project Activities
In 2023, we conducted 3 surveys in BG, North Macedonia and Kosovo, asking all our employees to whom and how the company should donate. Individually, they chose the same 4 focus areas: children's education, environmental protection, social support and ending violence against women and children. With our partners, we selected reliable NGOs with proven social impact. Again, all our employees were asked to choose 1 organization per focus area to receive an equal amount. These are: Ela Shared Learning Association; Hug me; Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation; Pulse Foundation. In Skopje: “Lulka” who helps premature babies. In Pristina: “Tech Charity Football Tournament”, SOS Children's Village Fundraising.
They were invited to present their ideas live at our office in Sofia with online streaming for our colleagues working from home. All our employees were invited to join them as volunteers according to their needs. This is how we roll out and develop our accountability program since 2018.
We also supported the EMPROVE Foundation in Bulgaria in their efforts to stop violence against women and children.
Project Results
In line with our operations and business model (organic growth and people-centric equal opportunities company), we designed our Program to involve all interested employees (out of 300+) and then address the social needs they selected. We educate, raise awareness within the company, embrace and encourage volunteering, activism and personal donations via introducing the NGOs' work and impact, and regularly communicating their activities internally.
Сince 2018 we have been supporting various NGOs in 4 focus areas. The funds help them carry on their operations. They spend them as they find fit, which is a rare kind of support. They identify their needs and address them. They provide us simple, activities only, reports.
