Project Aim
HP Inspires Giving is a collection of global volunteering initiatives that enable employees to share their time, expertise, and passion for giving.
A flagship initiative within the program is the annual volunteer campaign known as "40 Days of Doing Good." This impactful endeavor invites all team members to collaborate, either by joining existing volunteer projects or creating new ones, reflecting their passions and supporting charities close to their hearts.
In 2023, HP Inc. Bulgaria proudly launched 7 impactful projects as part of the 40 Days of Doing Good campaign:
Be a hero for a child;
Paper origami with cause;
Inspire Gen Z;
Digital career for refugees;
Digital equity for kids in foster care;
Forging sustainable entrepreneurial future for Europe;
Easter bake sale.
Project Target Group
The beneficiaries of our projects are legally registered NGOs in Bulgaria, as well as educational institutions. These target groups are reached through a specially designed online platform for donations and volunteering time registration—HP's Giving & Volunteering Tool (hp.benevity.org). Within this platform, NGOs have the flexibility to create their profiles independently or be nominated by an HP employee.
Project Duration
The “40 Days of Doing Good" campaign is part of our HP Inspires Giving program, which includes initiatives, aiming to accelerate digital equity and help build skills for the future. All these programs, including “40 Days of Doing Good”, are funded by the HP Foundation. The 40-day campaign, happening every year, is a special time when our employees come together to make a positive impact on local communities through volunteering.
Project Activities
The seven projects within the "40 Days of Doing Good" initiative included:
- Inspiring children with the goal to bring them joy and confidence. Committed to digital equity, volunteers met them every Friday for homework help and essential digital skills.
- Empowering those with multiple sclerosis - our initiative involved folding 1000 origami pieces, used for impactful fundraising by our partnering NGO.
- Recent research reveals a digital literacy gap in Bulgarian youth, especially in Gen Z, due to limited access. Volunteers addressed this by actively teaching essential tech skills to kids aged 11 to 14.
- Supporting marginalized groups and enhances their integration into society - visiting children, teaching digital skills, and sharing IT knowledge to inspire them.
- Participation in JA Bulgaria's EcoAccelerator event - 9 HP volunteers facilitated, 1 served on the jury, and 1 volunteered as the event photographer.
- A fundraising event involving volunteers bringing homemade bakes for an office breakfast. Colleagues who donated received treats, and the funds bought shoes for 30 kids in foster care.
