Project Aim
The program was launched in 2017 under the name "You and Lidl for a better life" in partnership with the "Workshop for Civic Initiatives" Foundation and the Bulgarian Donаtion Forum. Until 2022, it was focused on projects related to education, environmental protection and preservation of culture and historical heritage.
In 2023, the initiative was transformed into "You and Lidl for a better tomorrow". The aim is to synchronize it with Lidl's efforts in the field of sustainable development and to be adapted to the modern needs of our society. In this way we improve our partnership with the NGO sector. It also responds to the development priorities of local communities in the country by adding new thematic areas focused on the pressing challenges facing society.
Project Target Group
The program supports a wide range of target groups, according to the choice of the applicants in the respective field The purpose of the transformation is the expansion of the areas. #BeFair is about social justice and equality; #BeActive is related to active living; #BeVocal to media projects; #BeGreen aims at projects protecting the environment; #BeLocal culture and historical heritage
Direct and indirect beneficiaries are residents of local communities, civic organizations and Lidl customers
Project Duration
The program is part of Lidl's overall CSR strategy. The initiative has been running for 6 years and through it we achieve a strategic goal - to support the regional development of the country by helping people in places to have a more fulfilling life.
The sustainability of the initiative can be traced in a special impact map that shows the results of the initiative from 2017 to 2022. 633,049 people are the direct and indirect beneficiaries for the first 5 years of the initiative.
Project Activities
Collection of the fund from 18.09 to 18.10 Lidl allocates 5 cents to each receipt, and the collected fund of 365,000 is distributed to support projects in 5 areas

Selection of funded projects The projects go through 3 evaluation stages. 1 verification of technical security 2. evaluation by an expert jury - NGO specialists, established leaders of public opinion and journalists; over 10 people volunteered their input 3. the projects recommended by the jury were given a final assessment and were evaluated by 12 Lidl employees
Communication activities
An online platform (tilidl.bg) is created where everyone can find important information related to the initiative - over 25,000 visits in the active stage of the campaign, and an average of 2,000 visits in the remaining days

Project Results
In the first five editions, the company financed with a total fund of BGN 915,000 119 inspiring civic projects in the fields of education, environment, culture and historical heritage. Their impact managed to reach 633,049 Bulgarians from 58 cities and villages throughout the country. Most of the funded projects continue to have a positive impact in their communities every day and the number of beneficiaries is growing steady as well.
In 2023, a record number of 219 participants from 75 settlements took part, and the collected fund is BGN 365,000. With this amount, new projects of civil organizations, youth, media and journalists will be supported. Thus, together with this year's fund, the total fund for the six editions of the initiative reached a value of nearly BGN 1.3 million.
