Good habits are developed at an early age, that is why we joined forces with Blue Flag through Eco Schools, the largest global sustainable schools program, educating generations of sustainably minded, environmentally conscious people. The project brings this valuable experience to Bulgaria and contributes to the development of successful model for environmental education. Our main aim is to build the largest network of Eco Schools on the Balkans and to prepare the future generation of Bulgaria as active citizens who take public responsibility for environmental protection

The aim of the project - building the largest network of Eco Schools on the Balkans - defines main target group, namely all Bulgarian schools and kindergartens. Eco Schools is the largest global program for sustainable education, it starts in the classroom and through its methodology and activities extends to society, engaging not only the young, but also teachers, families, friends, institutions and businesses. Main target reached with support of Ministries of Education and Environment.

As part of the global BCorp community, our priority is to have a positive impact on the world by using the power of business to solve social and eco problems and to inspire people to become part of the sustainable transformation of the future. We follow the mission of connecting people and nature for a healthier life today and tomorrow. With the future in mind, we launched the first large-scale project in Bulgaria to introduce the "Ecoschools" program as part of the environmental education.

We set off by finding a reliable partner - Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement, who have years of experience in managing environmental education programs, and have available both methodology and specialists. We contacted the Ministries of Education and Environment, who recommended the Eco Schools program to be included in the curriculum of all Bulgarian schools and kindergartens. We presented to media the methodology and the steps that schools must go through in order to become certified as Eco Schools. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment. We also had a full-day training for teachers and principals from the first group of 50 schools that joined the certification process. Printed and distributed handbooks to all teachers to help implement the 7-step methodology and produced a video to inspire children, teachers and parents with our mission. We dedicated a special section on the platform Vedri.bg where schools can get information, communicate their progress and learn from each other. Media regularly cover the steps the schools go through and various initiatives and projects they are involved in, as well as the international recognitions and awards they receive

The greatest achievement of the Program is undoubtedly the fact that it is creating generation after generation of sustainably minded, environmentally conscious people. Through their lives they carry the behavioural patterns they adopt under the auspices of the Eco-Schools, in turn teaching the next generation habits and skills so they can make the best choices for their future and that of the planet. We are also pleased with the fact that the media is increasingly willing to cover news related to the Eco-Schools Program, as within three and a half months since the start of "Enter the Green Circle" Project, we have 54 media clippings in national and regional media. More than 35 new schools and kindergartens already proactively expressed their wish to join the program next school year.
