Project Aim
Climate change is one of the biggest global challenges. In 2021, Lidl created its climate strategy with specific goals and measures, based on the scientific methodology - the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative - a global standard for corp. actions in the field of low carbon economy. Lidl will thus contribute to the Paris Climate Agreement's goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. The specific target for Bulgaria is for the company to reduce its operational carbon emissions by 95% by 2030 compared to 2019. It also targets by 2026 the suppliers responsible for 75% of the carbon emissions in the international supply chain, incl. bg suppliers as well to set their own climate targets to be in line with SBTi.
Project Target Group
Direct/indirect beneficiaries: employees, customers, business partners and local communities. Lidl Bulgaria regularly and transparently shares information on the topic with these and other interested parties by publishing news in internal and external channels, its own website, newsletters, letters, meetings, through its own brand product labels, reports its progress in its Sustainable Development Report.
