Project Aim

Citizen Day is a global initiative of the L'Oreal as part of which the company's employees spend a day volunteering for a wide variety of initiatives. In 2019 the Bulgarian team brought their skills and energy to support the P.U.L.S.E. Foundation and the victims of violence and human trafficking, by assisting them in renovating a Crisis centre of the NGO. The project not only embodies the Group's commitment to CSR, but also contributes positively to the local community.

Project Target Group

Target group of Citizen Day 2019 in Bulgaria was the society in general and company employees who were encouraged to become more socially responsible and contribute positively to the local community in which L'Oreal operates by providing support to victims of violence and human trafficking.

Project Duration

In 2019, L'Oreal celebrated the 10th anniversary of Citizen Day. The initiative mirrors the company's commitment to CSR and is a major moment in its annual activities. It illustrates the local social engagement of both the employees and the company to help raise social responsibility.

Project Activities

For the 10th jubilee edition of Citizen Day in Bulgaria, L'Oreal joined forces with PULSE Foundation - one of the most renowned NGOs in the country, providing daily support to victims of violence and human trafficking. On May 31, 2019, L'Oreal Bulgaria volunteers managed to renovate and refresh the Crisis Centre of PULSE Foundation nearby Sofia. In just one working day, the employees succeeded to change completely the atmosphere and environment in the centre both inside the building and outside in the big yard and turn it into a better temporary residence. By active engagement in cleaning, painting and embellishing, rearranging, repairs and sorting out donations, weeding and planting the volunteers expressed their support for the noble cause of PULSE Foundation, providing support to victims of violence and human trafficking.

Project Results

United by a good cause the L'Oreal's team helped to renovate the Crisis centre and turn it into a home for the people searching shelter there. As a result, at the end of the day the premises looked cozier, the whole house was cleaned inside and outside, the garden got a fresh look and the place started to look like home. With over 350 volunteer hours in 2019 and 4,000 over the past 10 years, L'Oreal Bulgaria has supported many noble causes.
