The realization that action is needed to protect the planet is still at odds with our way of life. Yes, we read that we should not increase the trash we generate, but we use disposable packaging products every day, which we do not even recycle. While we spend our daily lives at work. That's why �Team Blue Goes Green� aimed at convincing our employees to opt out of the convenience of fast consumption, pay attention to how much waste they generate and choose their commute wisely.

The target group serving to drive the project's goals were UBB employees - nearly 4000 people working in offices and branches across Bulgaria. However, the beneficiary was global, literally. Because we take responsibility for the state of the Earth as our highest daily priority.

On the occasion of its 80th anniversary, accompanied by general expansion and success, KBC Group has provoked its employees with internal "challenges". It was the 5th in a row to be implemented in an entirely new area. The campaign was created and fully implemented within 2019 (March-December).

With a three-way challenge - handing over trash for recycling, collecting electronic devices for the benefit of the circular economy and saving harmful emissions by choosing another transportation, instead of using a car, KBC Group undertook the unrealistic task of planting 1 tree for each employee who participated in the campaign (80 000 people in Europe or nearly 4000 only in Bulgaria). A few months after the campaign started the goal seemed to be getting closer. With a purposeful campaign that followed a well-defined route, the high goals were systematically pursued. A specially designed platform has tracked that 3290 employees have contributed to our success by registering at least one activity from the directions outlined above. We are proud that currently new forest with trees, purchased by UBB and planted personally by its employees are already growing in Sofia, Varna, Silistra, Montana, Veliko Turnovo, Blagoevgrad, Stara Zagora, Burgas and Plovdiv.

A 2-month campaign, using a van equipped with various recycling bins, which visited 30 stops in the country, produced unexpected results. A specially designed platform has tracked that 3290 employees have collected the impressive: - 66 701 kg of waste - 169 devices - 1297 kg of harmful emissions In keeping with the promise of the impressive 3290 people who took part, we have committed ourselves to planting exactly 3290 trees in the country where we do business with respect to our environment.
