At the beginning of July 2019, Ilham Kadri, CEO of the Solvay Group launched the Solvay Citizen Day initiative - Within the campaign, between 17 and 30 September 2019, every Solvay site in the world had to choose an event at which we all had to create a shared social value, at the service of the community. The topic we agreed upon this year was the environment. During three days within this period, 400 trees were planted on the territory of Solvay Sodi and its affiliates, thanks to staff and volunteers from the local administration and schools.

Volunteers from Solvay Sodi and affiliates, local government officials, the mayor of Devnya, students from vocational classes assisted by Solvay Sodi, as well as from primary and secondary schools in the region.

From September 26 to 30 2019, each plant organising itself on a different day.

On September 30, 2019, colleagues from Solvay Sodi and its Provadol branch planted 100 trees at the entrance to the Provadia-Solnitsata archeological site. For Solvay Sodi, Citizen Day was September 27, 2019. 200 trees were planted in the nursery park, Devnya along the bike lane. For Devnya Limestone, the date of planting 100 trees at the primary school, kindergarten and town hall was September 26.

Solvay Citizen Day has great potential to become a sustainable social business model due to the fact that it is a high-level initiative from Ilham Kadri, CEO of the Solvay Group. The campaign features a wide reach, including all Solvay sites around the world. The environmental topic is very relevant and of utmost importance to Solvay Sodi, the company strives to manage its activities in a spirit of good cooperation and care for the local communities, for the environment and, above all, for the health and safety of the workers on the territory at the factory.
