ICPA

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA) is the single national professional organization for all Certified Public Accountants in Bulgaria. The Institute of Certified Public Accountants is an independent, self-sustained professional legal organisation, headquartered in Sofia.
The CPA’s qualification is recogniSed in Bulgaria as a most prestigious professional business qualification. By law, all CPA’s have the unconditional right to become members of the Institute once qualified.
ICPA’s mission is to provide members with the resources, information, and leadership that enable them to deliver valuable services in the highest professional manner to benefit the investors, the general public, as well as employers and clients.

ACTIVITIES
The activities of the Institute are regulated with Independent Financial Audit Act and By-laws. In general, they include:

• organise and conduct the examinations of the candidates for awarding a diploma of a certified public accountant; 
• organise and carry out various forms of  improvement of their professional qualification; 
• organise training of the candidates for acquiring qualification of certified public accountants in collaboration with the economic universities; 
• issue magazine, training materials and other editions related to the development and promotion of the audit profession; 
• approve an internal system of oversight of the activity of its members; 
• develop professional audit methodology and techniques for additional support and regulation of the activity of its members; 
• oversight the quality of the audit activity and professional conduct of its members; 
• organise, support and carry out research activities in the field of independent financial audit, accounting and financial analysis, as well as other related fields.
