61 companies took part in the national ESG competition, organised by BBLF for the 22nd year in a row
A total of 100 corporate entries focused on people and the environment vie for the prestigious Annual Responsible Business Awards 2024. 61 companies from different sectors are competing in theprominent national ESG competition, organised by the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF) for the 22nd year in a row to recognize corporate excellence in investing in social good and sustainability.
A landmark BBLF project, the Annual Responsible Business Awards are a high-profile platform for responsible companies and their successful and inspiring campaigns for the benefit of employees, society and the environment. Thus BBLF seeks to encourage best practice and promote corporate programmes with the greatest impact.
Companies from all sectors of the economy regardless of size, location and BBLF membership entered the competition mottoed Lead by Example. The entries present a broad picture of business sector's engagement with social challenges in areas such as education, social care, environment, etc.
The current edition features 100 social good entries implemented by 61 companies, half of which are BBLF members. As usual over the years, nominations in the Investor in the Community category were the most numerous at 29. Investor in Knowledge saw 22 nominations. Investor in Human Capital and Working Conditions ranks third with 19 projects.
There are more companies than ever before, 17 or almost triple the number of last year's contenders that vie for the title of Best Social Policy of Small and Medium Enterprises (all SMEs are eligible, regardless of category). 14 entries compete for the Investor in the Environment prize. This year saw 5high quality initiatives vie for the Cause Related Marketing award.
11 nominations fwere submitted for the Diversity at Work Award, introduced four years ago by the Diversity Charter in Bulgaria to recognise best practice in promoting diverse teams, equal opportunities and inclusive workplaces.
A jury of respected and independent experts from different sectors evaluates the applications. Criteria include benefit to society, quality of the plan and its implementation, commitment of partners and staff, creativity and innovation, public response and recognition. All nominated projects also run for the special Engage Award that recognizes employee involvement in a social good project, and the winner is selected by the British Embassy in Sofia.
The winners in the individual categories and the finalists ranked second and third will be announced at an official awards ceremony on 24 March 2025. The event presents all the entries, and they will also get published in the Awards archive on the BBLF website. The winner of the Diversity at Work award will be invited to the official launch of European Diversity Month in Brussels in late April.
