The meeting of the Board of ICCO (International Communications Consultancy Organization) was held in Sofia at the invitation of the Bulgarian Association of PR Agencies (BAPRA), whose chairman Maxim Behar, was elected as a Treasurer of the ICCO. This is the first time that this position is held by a representative of Eastern Europe.
"The PR market in Bulgaria surprised us with its incredible professionalism and high competitiveness," said Richard Houghton, President of ICCO, the largest professional PR community in the world. He participated in the meeting of the Board of ICCO in Sofia - the first one held in Bulgaria in the history of the organization.
"I deem the meeting of the Board as one of the best organized and most successful so far. We made important decisions and started preparing the World Summit on the ICCO to take place in the fall of 2011 in Portugal," added Mr. Houghton.
In a congratulatory letter to the Board of ICCO, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov noted "the fact that the Bulgarian Association of PR agencies is hosting this meeting is further evidence and recognition of the professionals in our country."
The program of the guests included a breakfast with former Foreign Minister Solomon Passy, where he shared with the participants interesting stories concerning different PR projects accomplished in Bulgaria and abroad, and unknown details of the visits to Bulgaria of Pope John Paul II, the Dalai Lama and many others.
Mr. Behar is the owner and manager of M3 Communications Group, a leading company for public relations. Mr. Behar was Chair of BBLF for two consecutive terms (2001-2007) and is considered a major contributor to the establishment of the Forum as a leading organization in the field of corporate social responsibility in Bulgaria and in creating the Standard of Business Ethics. Currently Mr. Behar is the Deputy Chair of BBLF and Chair of BAPRA.
