11th and 12th graders of the 22nd "D. Rakovski" School in Sofia presented their environmental projects for the development of the capital under the motto "My City in Green”. Most votes received the project "Vehicles that do not pollute the environment" developed by Dina Mohammad Yasin and Vesselina Evtimova. The winners were awarded with skis from Siemens Bulgaria and bicycles by the Association VeloEvolution.

"My City in Green” was conducted under the project "Partnership for Sustainable Development of Sofia”, implemented under the "Program of Europe - Civilian Projects and European Practices" of Sofia Municipality and executed by the Programme and Analytical Centre for European Law.

The participants in the school competition presented successful "green" projects designed for some of Europe's largest cities - Oslo, Berlin, Helsinki, Paris, Madrid, London, Amsterdam, Zurich and Vienna. The latter were also among the evaluated in the "Green Index of European cities”, an impact assessment on the environment of most European cities developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit in cooperation with Siemens.

Based on the best European practices students gave ideas on how Sofia could also become one among the best performers in the "green" rating of Europe through measures such as restrictions on carbon emissions, promotion of the use of solar energy, promotion of cycling in urban environment, separate waste collectors and others.
