The King of Spain Awarded Sasho Donchev, Chief Executive of Overgas

Overgas won against 100 projects from 61 countries. It is the first Bulgarian company, which has won the "High Achievments" prize of the World Petroleum Council in the "Social Responsibility" category. The other two finalists were ENI, Australia, and Pro-Natura International, Nigeria.

 

On Monday, 30 June, His Majesty King Juan Carlos, the Head of State of the host country, personally delivered the prize to Mr. Sasho Dontchev, founder and chief executive of Overgas.

 

The World Petroleum Council was in session in Madrid since Saturday, 27 June. More than 3,500 delegates from dozens of countries discussed the problems and expressed their views on the development of the petroleum and gas industries. This year the World Petroleum Council, the biggest non-government organisation in the branch, celebrated its 75th anniversary.

 

Overgas was nominated for the "High Achievments" prize with the following projects: "Balgarsko Shkolo (Bulgarian School), the National Student-professional Competition for gas technicians, the lecturer's training in Gas Technics, the youth artistic competition "The Soul of a Spring", the Summer Internship School, the Overgas Baskeball Academy, the Masters programme in gasification at the Miner-Geologist's University, the Mathematical and Linguistic Kangaroo, and the Careers Service in Yambol. Up to now, the company has invested more than 14 million leva in its projects. The children and young people, that are part of Overgas's programs, are more than 13,700.

 

These prestigeous prizes are awarded on a triannual basis in two categories, "Social Responsibility" and "Technological Development".
