Fair Trade - The World Business Concept of Fighting with Poverty

On January 23, 2006 Association Integra BDS, in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation organized an International Fair Trade Public Awareness Conference under the topic "Fair Trade - The World Business Concept of Fighting with Poverty" in Radisson SAS Grand Hotel, Sofia.

The conference aimed at the creation of awareness of the idea of Fair Trade among the business and society in Bulgaria. Among the lectors in the conference was Mr. Enrico Buttignon, Altromercato, Italy (the largest Fair Trade Organization in Europe), Mr. Herbert Hauss, Fair Trade expert in IFAT, Germany and Mr. Grozdan Stoevski and Ms. Desislava Chalamova from Association Integra BDS. The organizers were also officially greeted by Mr. Stamen Tassev, BBLF Executive Director, Ms. Malina Atanasova, CEO of Shell Bulgaria, Mr. Heinz Kaufmann - Country Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation and Ms. Galina Tomova, PR Manager of Citigroup Bulgaria.

The topic of Fair Trade concerns the trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalised producers and workers. Fair Trade is about people who believe in a future of full of justice.
