"Committed to effective giving" conference

For its 10th anniversary Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation, part of CAF network, hosted an international "Committed to effective giving" conference on September 18th, 2006.

Bulgarian CAF is a professional intermediary organization, offering information and support to individual givers and corporate community programmes. For first eight months of 2006, BCAF has raised more than BGN 220,000 by individuals and companies in Bulgaria and is helping the work of some 25 organizations.

Conference attendees were reminded about the necessity to be transparent in their finances and activities, together with taking steps to report charitable giving that is both effective and impactful.

Some 120 representatives of not-for-profit organizations, companies and business associations attended and participated in the event. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for sharing contemporary data about local and international practices and success stories in the area of philanthropy.

The conference was sponsored by CAF International and BNP Paribas. The jury and the audience of the conference awarded three Bulgarian not-for-profit organizations for their effectiveness in promoting and gaining financial support for their causes. The winners are: the Association of the women with cancer diseases; Green Balkans Stara Zagora and Doze of Love Bourgas.
