Bosch Bulgaria Won Two Prestigious Prizes at German Economy Awards 2022

The awards are in the categories "Large Enterprise" and "Social Commitment"; The prizes are awarded for Bosch contribution to the development of the business environment in Bulgaria through innovation and comprehensive policy of corporate social responsibility

Bosch Bulgaria was awarded two first places in a total of four categories of the German Economy Awards for 2022, presented at the beginning of each year by the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The company received first place in the category "Large Enterprise". The award was presented by the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov to Thomas Metz, Managing Director of Bosch Engineering Center Sofia and representative of Bosch Bulgaria. Lena Petkova, Financial and Administrative Director of Robert Bosch EOOD, received the award in the category "Social Commitment“ (Corporate Social Responsibility). 

The "Large Enterprise" award is a recognition for Bosch Bulgaria and the company’s efforts to provide new jobs, to foster the development of the business environment in Bulgaria through innovation and multiple programs to increase the qualifications of the employees and to invest in the growth of young talents. In the last four years only, Bosch has created over 500 jobs in Bulgaria and provided additional professional training for its teams.

The transformation of Bosch Bulgaria from a product to a high-tech business is a fact and we are proud of it. Because every single one of my colleagues has their own special role and place in the success of our company," said Thomas Metz upon receiving the award. 

The prize in the category "Social Commitment" (Corporate Social Responsibility) is awarded to Bosch for the initiation and participation in more than 15 charity projects and campaigns with a total value of over BGN 150,000, as well as for the active contribution of the company's employees. "I would say with joy and pride that we support a lot of social institutions and foundations, as well as vulnerable groups. Among the priorities of Bosch Bulgaria is to act responsibly and in the interest of the society and the environment, to invest in training and education", noted Lena Petkova. 

The nominated companies for the German Economy Awards 2022 were 22 in total in the categories "Large Enterprise", "SME- Small and Medium-sized Enterprise", "Social Commitment" (Corporate Social Responsibility) and "Startup Company". The purpose of the awards is to contribute to the further development of German-Bulgarian economic relations and to motivate the companies to establish business contacts with German partners. The selection of winners of the German Economy Awards 2022 was determined by a jury consisting of representatives of business, public life, politics, and diplomacy.

The Bosch Group has been present in Bulgaria for 30 years and employs some 700 associates, including the non-consolidated entities (as of December 31, 2021). In 2021, Bosch generated consolidated sales of 188 million euros (BGN 367 million) in Bulgaria. Robert Bosch EOOD is a 100 percent subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH. It is based in Sofia and distributes products and services of five Bosch divisions – Automotive Aftermarket, Power Tools, Thermotechnology, Building Technologies and household appliances through BSH Domakinski uredi Bulgaria EOOD. In 2019, Bosch opened an Engineering Center in Sofia, where now more than 500 highly qualified software specialists develop innovative technologies for the automotive industry in areas such as driver assistance systems, automated driving, artificial intelligence and electromobility. In 2015, the Bosch Group acquired ProSyst Software GmbH including its Bulgarian subsidiary ProSyst Labs EOOD, a leading international supplier of gateway software and middleware for the Internet of Things. In 2016, ProSyst Software GmbH and ProSyst Labs EOOD were fully merged with Bosch Software Innovations, renamed to Bosch.IO with over 200 associates in Sofia. Many of them have been working in the IoT area for more than 20 years.
