Lobbying Law and E-Government Demanded by Business Leaders

The urgent necessity of a law on lobbying as well as of the e-government's quick introduction in Bulgaria were among the priorities put by BBLF Managing Board to the Anti-Corruption Committee Chairman Boiko Velikov during a meeting today with the management of the parliamentary body.

 

As major areas predisposing to corruption practices were pointed out also medicine trade and transparency regarding the absorption of EU funding. Both sides agreed that the e-government should be introduced urgently but the possibility should be avoid at its very launching for using it as a tool for corrupt practices. According to Maxim Behar, BBLF Chairman, businesses in Bulgaria rely on this government to bring the administrative online services in.

 

He handed the leadership of the Committee the Anti-Corruption Statement, signed together with BIBA and BCVB, in which some concrete responsibilities of BBLF members are listed. But there are also some recommendations to the government on how to deal with one of the major constraints on Bulgaria's way to the EU membership. The business leaders engage themselves in fighting against corruption on corporate level by not tolerating any forms of it in their daily work with employees, partners and subcontractors.

 

«In BBLF our goal as business people is to make profit, but to make it in a transparent way. Only then every opportunity for corruption will be eliminated. At this moment, we lack a definition of words like corruption and lobbying and people often do not recognize when they are crossing the border of the law. A clear legal framework is necessary», highlighted Maxim Behar.

 

BBLF offered the government to establish an independent body that should have the sole task to investigate corruption cases in state administration. In this regard the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee Mr, Boiko Velikov announced that a proposal is under preparation for the establishment of Coordination Council between the three anti-corruption committees - the Parliamentary one, the governmental and that of the Higher Supreme Judicial Council.
