Special Service Pack May Boost Conference Tourism in Bulgaria

There must be absolutely no obstacles to arriving in Bulgaria. High quality informational and service websites must be created. Cheap air fares must be introduced for flights to Bulgaria. Innovation and diversity in services provided are a must if Bulgaria wants to be competitive on the convention tourism market.

That's just a brief summary of the essence of what high-profile conferences and events expert Paul Flackett advised Bulgarian tourism business at a meeting entitled ‘An Industry Global Update - Meetings and Incentives. How to Maximise Your Presence at Trade Shows. Getting the Best out of IMEX' organised by BBLF member the Bulgarian Convention and Visitors Bureau (BCVB) and the National Palace of Culture in Sofia on 16 Feb.

Paul Flackett is Managing Director of IMEX,  the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events, and a member of the EIBTM in Barcelona.

Conventions tourism in Bulgaria could grow further with the implementation of a service package to attract more visitors for organising international conferences, seminars, business meeting and events, company meetings and other events. It is more than possible for Bulgaria to join this industry, but only if it secures good hotels, transportation and communication, and a wide range of additional services, Mr. Flackett said. Bulgaria must be present at the international exhibitions if it wants to be noticed. Companies flock to the exhibitions, but unlike some 10-15 years ago when participation was their only goal, now they want to see the results of investing in their participation as well.
