On 23 April Begach Running Club is organising the sixth edition of the Pancharevo Trail. All funds raised at this year`s edition of the Marathon (5 BGN from every ticket) will be invested in а mentorship programme for one of Cedar Foundation`s family-type homes in the town of Kazanlak.
The programme consists of regular communication between trained mentors and children who live in the family-type home and is provided to all 13 children, aged between 9 and 17 years. Through its mentorship programme The Cedar Foundation provides individual support to each child. Mentors and children create a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship and shared experiences. The mentors have a very positive impact on the children.
As a result of the ongoing mentorship programme, the children have overcome the problems occurred in the process of transition from the state homes to the family-type homes, associated with fear, insecurity, and lack of communication skills. All children have significantly improved their grades at school and some of them have been admitted to secondary vocational schools in Stara Zagora, Kazanlak, Sofia and Shiroka Laka. The mentors encourage their talents in art, music, sport, etc. They also motivate their self-expression and facilitate the communication among themselves and with children and members of the local community.
The amount sought for the programme is BGN 3,000.
You can register by filling in the sign-up form. The registration is limited up to 600 participants and the price is BGN 50. The fee includes a medal for everyone, who finishes the marathon, Brooks Podium Shirt T-shirt with the logo of the event, electronic timing, toilets + medical team at the start, wardrobe, and refreshment. 5 BGN from each registered ticket will go to the Cedar Foundation`s Mentorship Programme.
