The retail chain will fund some of its CSR projects
BILLA Bulgaria will support three of its long-term campaigns by donating 0.01 BGN from every BILLA brand item sold. The assisted shopping project in partnership with the Union of the Blind will be supported in February. The funds raised will be used for the purchase of devices for visually impaired people. In July and August, BGN 0.01 will be donated to the initiative titled For More Children in Bulgaria“, implemented with I Want a Baby Foundation. The campaign benefitting children at SOS Children’s Villages will be supported in November.

The company's CSR programmes have earned it a special prize from the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The retail chain was also announced as the most significant corporate partner at the First Annual Awards of SOS Children’s Villages.
BILLA Bulgaria is consistent in its support for children at SOS Children’s Villages. In 2016 the company donated BGN 30,000 in both cash transfers and food vouchers to the organisation. As a result, 203 children and youths from Tryavna, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Sofia and Pernik were supported. The sum was used to furnish and renovate some of the dwellings of SOS Children’s Villages and to cover heating and electricity bills. The food vouchers were donated to beneficiaries from foster families, family homes and the centres for public support of the organisation.
Another significant project of BILLA is the campaign For More Children in Bulgaria performed in partnership with I Want a Baby Foundation. The main goal of the initiative is to help couples with reproductive issues make their dream come true. Charity cards are on sale at all BILLA stores around Bulgaria. The money raised is donated to the cause. 6 couples have been supported so far.
BILLA is the first retail chain in Bulgaria to introduce the practice of assisted shopping for the visually impaired. The project, carried out in partnership with the Union of the Blind is implemented in all BILLA stores. BILLA employees undergo a special training and can now help their visually impaired customers. In 2016, thanks to BILLA’s support, the Union of the Blind bought devices for the visually impaired in the regions of Sofia, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad. 186 people received white canes, speaking watches and blood pressure monitors with speech output which facilitate their everyday life.
