For a second year in a row ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 was presented by its own stand at the Children’s Bazaar of Professions held on 25-26 November 2016 at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. This year the event, part of Proud of My Parents’ Work initiative of the Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact, attracted over 1,600 participants: children, teachers and parents who walked around 13 stands of various companies and enjoyed 35 speakers from various professional fields. The idea was to help children find their way through the sea of professions and make an informed choice about their future career.
The stands presenting the jobs of a power engineer, chemist, gas engineer, mining engineer, geologist, technician, pharmacist, programmer, graphic designer, radio and television journalist were accessible to all. This year again engineering professions interested children the most, probably because of their strong relationship with modern technology.
Peter Kovachev, power engineer at ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 TPP and speaker at the event, advised: "To achieve their dream of becoming a power engineer, a child of course must first choose to study engineering. But above all, he or she must be curious, because this area is constantly evolving. In the future, almost everyone will produce their own electricity from rooftop solar panels and will drive an electric vehicle. This is truly an exciting prospect for all of us, children and adults alike. "
