The sum raised at the 11th Annual Charity Ball of the Cedar Foundation, under the patronage of the Olympic champion Rumyana Neykova is nearly BGN 60,000.
The event took place on the 12th of November 2016, Saturday in Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan. Among the guests were Bulgarian and foreign business leaders, prominent figures from the sport, art and diplomatic circles.
100% of the raised sum will be invested in expanding and further improving the 9 social services managed by the foundation in the towns of Kazanlak and Kyustendil. The services include 24-hour care and support in the individual development of disadvantaged children and young adults as well as innovative approach towards supporting the families of people with disabilities. In the past 11 years, the Cedar Foundation has a leading role in regards of deinstitutionalization processes in Bulgaria and the region, including active advocacy for improving state policies for children and adults with disabilities.
Rumyana Neykova, invested herself in working with people with disabilities reaffirmed her support for the Cedar Foundation as a patron of the event. The popular actresses Radina Dumanyan and Yana Titova joined her in supporting the foundation`s cause as hosts of the evening. The music was provided by the musicians Peyo Filipov and Camino bend as well as by the world champion in beatbox- Pechenkata.
A charity auction took a central part of the program, hosted by the actress and model Yana Marinova. Among the objects that sparked highest interest were original jerseys of the football teams Manchester United and Liverpool with certificates for authenticity and autographs by the teams, hoop and clubs used by the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics National Team, beatbox lesson with Pechenkata as well as rowing lesson with Rumyana Neykova.
As every year, among the guests at the ball were disadvantaged children and young adults cared for by the foundation as well as a team of social workers.
