Telenor-Backed School Modernisation Project Awarded IT Project of 2015

The project for creating a Leadership Centre at 19th Elin Pelin School in Sofia implemented with Telenor’s support won the prize in the Education category of the 12th edition of Computerworld monthly’s IT Project of 2015.

In the beginning of last year, Telenor donated BGN 107,000 to equip the Leadership Centre with up-to-date educational technology. The Centre consists of nine labs, including entrepreneurship space, English, German and Norwegian language labs, mathematics, geography and IT labs, as well as a library. Thanks to Telenor’s donation, the learning spaces will be equipped with interactive whiteboards, multimedia, laptops and ultrathin energy-efficient personal computers. The high-tech classrooms also feature student response system, which allow students to participate in lectures by submitting responses to interactive questions using the remote clicker devices. Responses are collected by specially designed software and displayed on the teacher’s laptop. The donation is part of Telenor’s long-term program to support Bulgarian education and young people.

Computerworld monthly’s annual initiative is aimed at distinguishing the most significant, large-scale and efficient IT projects for the development and use of information systems and solutions in the Bulgarian companies, enterprises and institutions nationwide. This year the contest registered 26 entries, 17 of which competed in the public sector and 9 in the private sector.
