Telenor, Manager Magazine Set Up Green Circle Association

Telenor and Manager magazine will establish a Green Circle Association of Bulgarian companies from various business sectors that are committed to green ideas and follow good practices in sustainable development and environmental protection. The association’s key priority is to promote and encourage the positive examples of environmental protection and effective use of natural resources by business and society. The news was announced at the sixth edition of the annual Green Forum, organised by Manager magazine with support from Telenor.

This year’s edition of the Forum was titled Energy Efficiency – Our New World. The event was attended by representatives of leading Bulgarian companies, state institutions, media and experts in the field of energy efficiency and green business solutions.

The participants discussed topics related to the implementation of smart solutions for saving energy, reducing energy costs globally, energy renovation of small businesses and achieving sustainable urban development by introducing intelligent networks, transport systems and innovative communication technologies.

At the event, Telenor was presented by the company’s Chief Technical Officer Mr. Vladimir Radojicic who spoke about the operator’s network renovation and modernisation process. Telenor now has a 4G-ready network which offers higher data speed and capacity and much improved overall user experience. Radoijcic emphasised the network’s energy efficiency and shared some best practices related to the company’s investments in green solutions.

„The new equipment in our network uses 20% less electricity and has free cooling systems which save energy and gas emissions. I am happy to say that this year we implemented the first base station fully powered by solar panels. We believe that our actions are a good example to other companies in Bulgaria and we are always open to sharing knowledge and experience in this area”, Mr. Radojicic commented.

Telenor also published its annual Corporate Responsibility report for 2014. This year it was prepared according to the new GRI standard - G4, and will be available online on the following link: http://www.telenor.bg/en/corporate-responsibility/2014
