Nestlé Bulgaria Opens to Youth

For the second time this year the company is committed to improve the employability of young people in the country as part of its youth employment initiative

On October 29, 2014 Nestlé Bulgaria opened its doors to students and young people from across the country giving them a chance to take part in the second annual CV WORKshop.

The event was attended by 30 people with various professional experience and education, including young people from the SOS Children’s Villages and a group of students from Gorna Oryahovitsa. They were given practical tips, guidance and advice by the recruitment team of Nestlé Bulgaria. Participants were divided into four groups, based on the locally represented global and local businesses of the company, i.e. MAGGI, Ice Cream, Nestlé Professional and Infant Nutrition. In the first part of the program participants worked on writing their resumes and cover letters. They were given useful practical advice from experts from Nestlé which they implemented immediately. The event continued with a team race to produce the best resume and cover letter for a vacancy at Nestlé Bulgaria, and the winners were selected by Velislav Popov, Training and Learning Manager, and Nikol Georgieva, HR Assistant. Finally all participants received certificates for successfully completing the practical training of CV WORKshop and the presenters received awards for having the courage and initiative to present their group projects. The event ended with a group photo and lots of smiles.

Once again the feedback of the participants was that they would leave with new practical knowledge to write a successful resume and cover letter and would look forward to next year’s events to improve the employability of young people.

The two editions of CV WORKshop (in August and October 2014) were attended by a total of 65 young people from across the country. Due to the strong interest in the initiative, Nestlé Bulgaria plans to hold two more CV WORKshops by the end of 2014, i.e. at the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv on November 21, 2014, and at Nestlé’s Ice Cream Factory in Varna on November 28, 2014.

CV WORKshop is part of Nestlé’s initiative to promote youth employment in Europe Nestlé Needs YOUth. In 2014- 2016, in Bulgaria 330 young people under the age of 30 will be offered jobs or internships at different levels and in different departments of the company, from production and administration to sales, marketing, finance, technology, R&D. At the end of October, 2014, more than 150 young people have found permanent and temp jobs and internships at Nestlé Bulgaria.

Nestlé needs YOUth is the first comprehensive youth employment initiative that simultaneously stimulates, strengthens and develops the employability of young people. With this program, Nestlé and its partners aim to provide the necessary training and education to young people, regardless of their education level and type of preferred career.
