GLOBUL will support the third consecutive edition of the Homeless World Cup project for social integration of underprivileged young people organised by Sports Management Bulgaria. GLOBUL Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mr. Yassen Guev announced the news at a press conference held today in Sofia.
GLOBUL sponsors the ‘Team of Hope’ ever since its launch in 2011. The initiative has evolved and achieved considerable success over the past three years. As a result, hundreds of young people deprived of home, family or having other social issues have become more confident and have improved their way of living. That’s why I am so proud that GLOBUL continues to support the project as I believe that it can and will change a lot more lives, Mr. Guev said at the event which was also attended by the new ambassadors of the campaign, actress Teodora Duhovnikova and writer Georgi Gospodinov.
This year, the project will be open for all underprivileged young people from six locations in the country: Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Lom, Bratsigovo and Doganovo. After a series of football tournaments, the ‘Team of Hope’ coach Mladen Hristov will select the players who will be part of the Bulgarian national homeless football team that will represent our country at the Homeless World Cup in Chile from 19 to 26 October.
The national team debuted in the Homeless World Cup in Mexico in 2012 and ranked 14th among a total of 43 teams. A year later, the Team of Hope ranked 17th among 46 national homeless teams and won the Poznań City Cup as well.
GLOBUL supports the Homeless World Cup project for a third consecutive year as part of its corporate responsibility strategy. The initiative aims at promoting the social integration of young disadvantaged people through the power of sport and team spirit.
