BGN 100,000 Donated to Best Start for Every Child In 1 Month

For a period of just one month since the launch of the campaign titled Best Start for Every Child, a strategic partnership of Postbank and UNICEF in Bulgaria customers and employees of the bank donated a total of  BGN 100,000. The funds will support the Centre for Maternal and Child Health founded by UNICEF in the region of Shumen region. The donors choose the amount as well as the mode of donation themselves – via an ATM, in cash, or online bankin. The bank, on the other hand, makes no charges on transactions related to the UNICEF donations.

The Centre for Maternal and Child Health which is supported by UNICE, offers home visitation to pregnant women and families with children of up to three years of age. The Centre's nurses and midwives make the visits at a time convenient to families providing information on health issues,  consult on safe pregnancy, preparation for childbirth, help in the first weeks after the birth, breastfeeding and nutrition, stimulation of the child's intellectual and emotional development and other child-raising matters.

The short-term goal of the strategic partnership of Postbank and UNICEF Bulgaria is to develop a network of such centres for maternal and child health.  The next one will open in the region of Sliven by the end of the year, and one in Montana will follow too. The long-term objective of Best Start for Every Child is to apply the pattern at the national level and support parents of young children across the country.
