Eurofootball Launched A Sports Talents Funding Contest

On 6 January 2014 Eurofootball launched the third edition of its Sports Talents programme by announcing a national competition. It aims to select athletes that the bookmaker will finance this year and thus help them partake in contests, train, recover and get equipment, etc. To reach a greater number of athletes, the bookmaker allocated a greater amount to the programme, namely a total of 65,000 leva, or 5,000 leva up than last year.

Sports Talents programme is meant for individual athletes aged 16-25 and willing to develop their skills and realise their potential in their preferred sport. The programme is open to disadvantaged athletes, too, both paralympic athletes and sight- or hearing-impaired athletes who have a special quota this year again. The project is being implemented with cooperation from the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF).

The competition expires on 3 February 2014. For additional information and details on application papers as well as for a full list of sporting disciplines (over 80 of them) the programme covers please log on here. The maximum amount that each project can get is up to 5,000 leva. Athletes need to confinance at least 20% of expenses. The programme’s financial framework includes also the financing of the Popular Sporting Salent poll winner which will be held after the competition closes.

This year’s edition of the Sports Talents programme is an extension of Eurofootball’s commitment to Bulgaria’s young sports talents. In the two years of its existence the programme supported 42 athletes, some of them in two consecutive editions.

The three editions of the Sports Talents programme are part of Euroftooball’s comprehensive social project titled Win and Help that was launched in 2007. To date, it helped fund 16 campaigns in support of various challenging areas of public life.
