Project Aim
As a continuation of employee development efforts, in 2023 DPM launched large-scale Leadership Academies for executives at all levels of the organization conducted by external consultants and an internal "Grow Together" program.
Participation in the academies is aimed at enabling managers to choose strategies for effective management and leadership, to develop their strengths and to recognize and appreciate the strengths of the people in their team. The aim of the development programs is to support the practical skills of the participants necessary for effective people management. The content builds on the competencies identified as important to the company so that participants can successfully face challenges and give their best to achieve ever higher results.
Project Target Group
Participants are employees performing managerial functions,divided into 3 programs according to the responsibilities:
• "The Leader in Practice" - 29 participants from manager level,leading entire functional areas/departments;
• Management skills – 50 middle management level supervisors directly responsible for results are involved;
• Academy for shift supervisors – 67 shift supervisor/senior employees in the unit participate.
"Grow together" - 140 managers of all levels in DPM were trained.
Project Duration
DPM believes that the company's success and employee motivation are directly related to the skills and knowledge of the management team. To ensure their continuous improvement, DPM is focusing on the development of all leaders simultaneously, and the Academies started in 2023 and continuing in 2024.The third program will start in 2024.
“Grow together” program laid the groundwork by building a growth mindset for the leadership team as early as late 2022 and early 2023.
Project Activities
• December 2022 - February 2023 - conducting one-day trainings under the "Grow Together" internal program;
• March 2023 - individual preliminary meetings of all participants and their managers with the consultants to gather information about their expectations from the Academy;
• April 2023 – start of the DPM Academy for management skills for middle management level managers. It contains 8 modules with different topics and lasts until January 2024.
• October 2023 – preliminary interviews with directors/general managers regarding expectations and the need for development of managers;
• November 2023 - start of the Leadership Academy "The Leader in Practice". The program includes 5 modules, which are held in a two-day format, as well as a personalized approach to knowledge retention with the Code of Talent platform after each module;
• November 2023 – Conducted Shift Supervisor/Senior Unit Assessment Centers as a reliable method for planning employee development initiatives. Its results serve to develop and adapt the training academy;
• February 2024 – start of the Shift Supervisor Academy, which is divided into 5 one-day modules for each of the groups, one per month.
Project Results
Managing people is becoming increasingly difficult and managers are challenged to motivate their teams in an environment of constant change. Working on leadership skills at all levels of the organization ensures consistency and a shared understanding of what we expect from each leader. Through interactive simulations participants learn and develop skills. They practice what they have learned through the practical activities and additional tasks.
Creating an entirely in-house training team for “Grow Together” allowed employees to develop into a whole new role and present themselves in a different light, training their colleagues.
These development programs also make a significant contribution to improving cooperation and communication between departments in the company.
