Every year, tens of decares of forests are burned down in the country, with only 2,000 fires occurring within 4 years and creating damage for more than 4 milion BGN. Such disasters cause serious damage to natural resources and biodiversity. The restoration of burnt forests is a difficult process for the municipalities concerned, as there is both a shortage of targeted aid and an organization and corresponding support for aftercare.

#PlantActively addresses to the public and the state structures involved in the preservation of forests, good thinking and care for the important topic – environmental protection and efforts in caring for the restoration of burned forests in the municipality of Stambolovo due to fire.

Within 2023 several types of events and communication materials were organized, and initially at a special event in May all national media were invited to announce the cause of 2023 from the initiative #Afforestration Together. The campaign reached nearly 48 million people. An additional exposure of the initiative was made through the participation of Nestle Communications Director Southeast Market, Nelly Angelova at key forums related to sustainability and ESG practices.

The cause behind which the company stands is on the territory of the Municipality of Stambolovo is the afforestation of 150,000 oak saplings in over 30 decares of burned areas. Key in the project is that for all stages of the project is engaged local workforce in the face of the local firm – ZP Hairy Gelatin Feyzi, working with people from the region. The commitment of local government to the subsequent improvement is long-term, which further ensures the success of the project.
