Project Aim

Vivacom's summer internship program is the company's longest-running project for youth development. It is an imposed ecosystem with 20 years of history. Its aim is to enable students from different universities and majors to put their theoretical knowledge into practice by working on real projects, becoming part of key company department. The program gives students valuable experience and professional contacts, opens up career development opportunities and presents them the intriguing world of technology and telecommunications. Thanks to the program, for 3 months the trainees undergo a number of important trainings for their career and personal development, acquire practical skills, competitive experience and have the opportunity to choose in what direction they want to develop.

Project Target Group

The project is aimed at undergraduate/graduate students from various universities across the country. The main goal is to familiarize the youth to the diverse departments and endless job opportunities and develop their potential in Vivacom and the world of technology. The program gives them a chance to jump straight from the school bench to job in a large international company where they can gain valuable experience. Trainees are on an employment contract and have access to all company benefits.

Project Duration

The duration of the program is 3 months (June-September) and the interns are full-time. During the internship, they work on real projects and participate directly in the company's activities equally with all employees. The preparation and implementation of the program takes more than 9 months. It begins each spring with position promotion and initiative planning and ends in October with an official Closing Ceremony, after which the outstanding interns remain permanently in the company.

Project Activities

The summer internship program includes a number of trainings such as Business Etiquette, Presentation Skills, Electrical Safety, which have record attendance of over 90% and additional initiatives to enrich the interns' experience and knowledge. For the first time in the jubilee edition, a "Face-to-Face Meeting with the CEO: Bold Steps on the Road to Success" was held, which gave the trainees an opportunity to get acquainted with the CEO and ask their questions. New to the project was the "360 Degree Initiative", whereby the interns were introduced to the activities of other company departments, allowing them to get to know it in detail. There was also the traditional Friday Presentations competition, through which the interns presented their department and their work over the summer to the others. We published a special Intern Newsletter as part of their experience at the company. We held our annual CSR initiative, which was attended by over 50 people in 2023 - it enables, through volunteering, to improve living conditions and instil values. Additionally, informal events such as picnics, football matches, cinema nights, board games, etc. are organized for the interns each year.

Project Results

Over the 20 editions of the program, more than 1,600 trainees have participated, and in the jubilee edition, 51 trainees took part. Each year, over 40% of the interns stay with the company and choose to continue their development with us. Over 80 of all the others so far have held leadership roles, and today the company's management team includes directors and managers who started their careers as trainees. The results for 2023, are impressive: over 50% of trainees are permanently employed. Statistics show that in 2023, 20% of the mentors were previously interns, which is a prerequisite for success in knowledge transfer and experiences within the company. These data, both for the project and the whole organization, prove the undeniable success in so many young people development annually.
