"AbbVie gives back" aims to nurture a culture of volunteering as a basis for the sustainable future of business and society as a whole.
We create positive change and help advance society by fostering a sense of civic responsibility and a conscious need to help people in need — adults, children or other vulnerable groups.
As we help other people, we develop unsuspected skills, passion, and interest in new areas of life.
Project Target Group
On the one hand, from long-term perspective this project aims to build reliable socially responsible mini-society among AbbVie`s employees, on the other hand we contribute to various vulnerable groups of people with specific needs.
Project Duration
In 2023 AbbVie celebrated its 1st anniversary worldwide. These 10 years coincide completely with the huge variety of charitable activities initiated by the company's employees in Bulgaria and around the world. In 2022, a local team was formed, dedicated to building a comprehensive approach to sustainable social responsibility of AbbVie and its employees. The goal is to create a culture recognized as a corporate value that inspires by example and is part of the lives of employees.
Project Activities
Within 2023, with great enthusiasm and passion we managed to organize the following activities:
1. In March, for the benefit of foundation "Children", we organized a charity bazaar in the office with martenitzi, made by children without parents.
2. Charity lunch on the occasion of International Women's Day March 8th in favor of "Bulgarian fund for women".
3. With the support of colleagues from all over the country, AbbVie was able to make Easter more shared and joyful for 100 single elderly people accommodated in a nursing home in Gorna Banya.
4. Donation initiative in favor of the Foundation “Support and Renewal of Ukraine”.
5. In September, we organized a voluntary blood donation campaign in the office.
6. December was devoted to raising funds in favor of the “Association of Children with Oncohematological Diseases”. All funds raised by employees during the campaign were doubled by AbbVie Bulgaria.
Project Results
1) The charity bazaar with martenichki helped funding a variety of educational activities for children without parents.
2) The charity lunch on the occasion of March 8 were donated to the "Bulgarian Fund for Women" to fight domestic violence.
3) Thanks to our Easter initiative, 100 single elderly people felt the comfort of this wonderful holiday, even though they are far from home.
4) We made the summer vacation of 52 Ukrainian children happier by providing them with food, toys and other entertaining materials.
5) Through our blood donation day, we contributed in saving 19 human lives.
6) Through AbbVie's contribution, 200 children with oncohaematological diseases will have the opportunity to continue their studies remotely.
