Project description

Project Aim

The charity campaign "Trips without borders" was realized in support of the Cedar Foundation. Its main goal was to raise funds to provide specialized transport for children and young adults in the organization's centers in Kazanlak, for whom transportation is a challenge. They use wheelchairs, and transporting them was also difficult for the foundation's staff, as they had to lift and place them on the seats themselves - unsuitable for their body posture. The financial target of the project was 16,000 BGN, which was needed to adapt the foundation's service van with wheelchair seats and a ramp to enable the hardly mobile children to travel to different places in and outside the city - for therapies, cultural events, excursions and community events.

Project Target Group

The target groups of the project are two - children and young people with physical disabilities and the employees of the organization - social therapists who take care of them and are responsible for their transportation. On the one hand, the adaptation of the van enables the children to go out more often, to attend different therapies and events, and to travel. On the other hand, it makes it easier for the carers who have difficulty lifting, carrying and transporting them.

Project Duration

The campaign was conducted for the 3rd time in 2023. The joint partnership began in 2019 when the first campaign was organized - 1 BGN from the purchase of the product Choco Pizza within 5 days was donated, after which the company doubled the amount. Then 794 BGN were raised. In 2021, an identical campaign was run, but donation boxes were added at each location, raising 2,849 BGN. In 2023, a savory pizza with a cause was created, and the period was increased. The donation was worth 18,706 BGN.

Project Activities

Special design and materials were created for the charity campaign, which were distributed during a large-scale digital campaign on the social media channels of both PizzaLab and the Cedar Foundation. In addition, promotional posters and stickers with the cause were placed in all restaurants. The main "culprits" for the spread of the initiative were the company's employees, who actively sold the newly created pizza and directed customers' attention to the donation boxes. Due to the great success of the campaign, the Cedar Foundation did not have to adapt the existing van but was able to purchase a wide and comfortable vehicle custom-made for wheelchair users and equipped with the necessary ramp. This change makes it very easy and comfortable for all children and young people with severe disabilities to travel to different locations in the city and beyond. In addition to the specialized vehicle, the rest of the funds raised were invested in the organisation of a summer camp for young people with intellectual disabilities from the foundation's protected home in Kazanlak.

Project Results

At the end of the campaign a total of 18,706 BGN was raised. This represents a 2255.92% increase compared to the funds raised during the first joint campaign and 556.58% compared to the second. Prior to the purchase of the specialized van, the inclusion of children and young people with severe physical disabilities in activities outside the house was very difficult. The foundation's staff had to lift and position them on seats that were not adapted for them. These difficulties never stopped the foundation from making efforts to include them in the community, but everyone wished it could be easier and more comfortable. Their dream became a reality after the campaign, and the Cedar staff is extremely happy and shares the children's comfort and joy.
