Project Aim

The aim of the Vaccine with a Cause is to support the vaccination campaign In Bulgaria and help facilitate the passage of the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which would reduce the need for strict measures. One of the most severely affected by the restrictions is the HoReCa sector, in which METRO Bulgaria has been a trusted partner since entering the Bulgarian market more than 20 years ago. We are driven by the desire to provide another opportunity for those wishing to be vaccinated (including our clients).

Project Target Group

People over 18 years of age living in and around the cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Blagoevgrad

Project Duration

The Vaccine with a Cause campaign starts in early September and lasts until the end of November 2021. This is the period in which METRO Bulgaria provides a voucher worth BGN 20. for each vaccine placed in the parking lots of the shops. The voucher can be used for shopping or donated in special boxes for #FundForChildrenofHeroes of the BCause Foundation. The work of the vaccination points continues after the end of November until March 2022. including.

Project Activities

The "Vaccine with a Cause" campaign consists of several types of activities: - organization and location of vaccination points on the territory of METRO stores in 6 cities - partnership with the Ministry of Health and the respective RHIs in the cities. The partnership consists of providing the teams that carry out the vaccinations, as well as raising awareness through the communication channels of the institutions. - resource provision of the campaign - METRO Bulgaria provides premises to be used as vaccination points; - Every person who chooses to vaccinate in the points on the territory of METRO stores receives a voucher worth BGN 20, which can be used for shopping in the store or donated in special boxes in the store for #FundZaDetsatanaHero heroes, doctors and teachers who died in the battle with COVID-19 of the BCause Foundation - communication campaign organized by METRO Bulgaria - press releases, publications on social networks, posters and roll-banners in stores .

Project Results

For the period of the campaign "Vaccine with a cause" (September - November 2021, inclusive) in the points of METRO Bulgaria are placed nearly 14,000 vaccines. 1228 vouchers with a total value of BGN 24,560 were donated by vaccinated citizens. The amount will cover the scholarships of 12 children for 4 months within the #FaceForChildren's Heroes of the BCause Foundation. The communication response is at the national level with an audience of about 6 million people. The work of the vaccination points (without vouchers giving) continues until the end of March in 4 cities (Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas), and for the months of December and January so far more than 6000 vaccines have been given.
