At the beginning of the pandemic situation, in April, when there was still no very good organization for testing first-line medical workers for COVID-19, the laboratory provided 200 free tests per month for doctors and nurses.
In April 2020 we tested free of charge the doctors from the Emergency Department of Queen Joana Hospital - ISUL, 2nd Hospital in Sofia, hospitals in Stara Zagora, Dobrich and Varna.
To this day, the laboratory offers a 40% discount on the price of a test for each doctor and a 20% discount for any other medical personnel.
We have declared our readiness to assist the Bulgarian Medical Union with laboratory aid if necessary.
Project Target Group
doctors and nurses working on the front line during the pandemic.
Reaching the group:
Sending of communication through the Bulgarian Medical Union to all hospitals in the country.
The project began with the introduction of quarantine in 2020 due to the global pandemic and the spread of the infection in Bulgaria.
From April 2020 until today, the laboratory continues its campaign to help medical teams and offer help when needed.
The project activities are:
1. sending information to the media throughout the country
2. sending information to the Bulgarian Medical Union
3. placing information on the laboratory's website
4. order and organization of the necessary test kits, consumables, etc., which the laboratory used to perform the necessary tests
The costs for everything needed for the project are at the expense of the laboratory and no external funding has been sought.
The provided free tests provided an opportunity for the medical personnel to take care of their health and that of their families at the beginning of the pandemic.
It is not possible to provide an exact number of free tests performed, as well as a discount made, but for the period April 2020 - December 2020 the tests performed are over 1000.
