Pythagoras Private Secondary School stands among Bulgaria’s leading educational institutions, distinguished by its rigorous academic standards, innovative approach to learning, and consistently outstanding achievements at both national and international levels. Established in 2011, the school provides a comprehensive educational pathway encompassing preschool, primary, and secondary education, with a strong emphasis on mathematics and foreign language instruction. Today, the Pythagoras educational community comprises more than 600 students and over 100 teachers, educators, and consultants, all united by a shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous development.
The Pythagoras educational model combines contemporary pedagogical practices with project-based learning, real-world problem solving, and the cultivation of critical thinking skills, placing the student at the very heart of the educational process. Admission to the school is based on specially designed entrance examinations, ensuring that students become part of a highly motivated and academically ambitious community. The achievements of our students serve as the most compelling testament to the quality of education that Pythagoras provides.
Over the years, Pythagoras students have secured leading positions in national and international Olympiads, mathematics competitions, and academic forums. Among the school’s most notable accomplishments are two national awards in the field of STEM and STEAM education, exceptional results in the National External Assessment in Bulgarian Language and Literature for fourth-grade students, and consistently high levels of achievement in foreign languages, evidenced by internationally recognised Cambridge qualifications. These accomplishments reflect the school’s unwavering dedication to educational excellence and its pursuit of the highest academic standards.
In 2026, as part of the celebration of its fifteenth anniversary, the school marked the beginning of a new chapter in its development through a strategic partnership with the prestigious Gordonstoun Boarding School, a globally respected institution renowned for educational excellence. This milestone was accompanied by the announcement of a second Pythagoras School campus in Varna. The collaboration with Gordonstoun further establishes Sofia as a regional educational hub for Southeast Europe while creating new opportunities for international academic exchange, leadership development, and educational innovation.
At the same time, the Pythagoras educational community is expanding its presence across the Gulf region. In partnership with leading educational and institutional organisations in the United Arab Emirates, the foundations will be laid for the first Pythagoras Mathematics School in the region, scheduled to open in 2028. This ambitious initiative is designed to nurture future leaders and highly skilled professionals equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow’s global economy.
Today, Pythagoras continues to pursue its mission with confidence and determination: to create an educational environment in which knowledge, innovation, and personal development form the foundation for life-long success and a sustainable future.
