For Our Children Foundation is a successor to the British organization for protecting children’s rights “EveryChild” and has been working in Bulgaria since 1992. For Our Children is the first Bulgarian non-government organization that introduces foster care as early as 1997. Today the foundation is working to make sure no Bulgarian child spends the first years of their life in the isolation of the institutions but lives safe and loved in a family.
The work of For Our Children Foundation is supported by an Advisory Board, which includes key opinion formers from different sectors of public life, as well as by a wide range of professional communities, representatives of the media and the business sector.
The vision of the foundation is “Development and happy childhood for the most vulnerable children in Bulgaria”, and the mission – to provide professional social services for the most vulnerable children in early age through encouraging stable, secure and developing family relations.
For Our Children Foundation includes a team of social workers, psychologists, family therapists and experts in four centers – three in Sofia (Community Support Center “St. Sofia”, Foster Care Center and Family House) and one in Plovdiv (Community Support Center “For Children and Parents”).
The causes of the organization are preventing the abandonment of babies, finding foster carers for children in need and the establishment of Children’s House.
In the first half of 2012, due to the efforts of For Our Children Foundation 119 children were not abandoned in a social home, but stayed with their families. The Foundation supports a total of 31 approved foster families with 28 children, placed in them.
