Past. Present. Future - Where is Leadership in Bulgaria Heading for?
The Balkan Leadership Development Forum took place from March 29 until April 1, 2007 and was organized by the national office of the biggest international students organization AIESEC in Bulgaria. It was attended by more than 130 students, 20 of whom were young people from Serbia, Greece, Armenia, India, Austria, Canada, and Iran.
The Forum was opened with a panel discussion on the topic "Leadership - the Bulgarian Definition", which was led by the official guest of the forum Mr. Maxim Behar, BBLF Chairman. Participation in the discussion took Mr. Stamen Tassev, BBLF Executive Director; Ms. Sasha Bezuhanova, General Manager of Hewlett-Packard; Mr. Michael Fritz, USAID Mission Director in Bulgaria; Mr. Ivan Velkov, General Manager of Colliers Bulgaria; Prof. Mihov, Deputy Rector of the University of National and World Economy, Mr. Jan Skvaril - Director Consulting, Deloitte Bulgaria; Mr. Deyan Vassilev - CEO, "Moite Pari"; George Tsvetanov, General Manager of Eagles' Flight and Mr. Emil Ivanov, President of AIESEC Bulgaria.
The goal of the discussion was to define the direction in which the leadership develops in Bulgaria in respect to the recent dynamic changes. The panelists shared their experience and the path they have chosen to professional and personal development. The young people had the unique chance to interact freely with the business representatives. One of the burning issues was how the students can become leaders and how they can have a positive impact on the society.
During the following few days of the forum the students went through a lot of trainings and simulations in order to understand how to be effective leaders and to achieve excellent results by doing ethical business.
