BBLF’s General Assembly Elected Two Members of the Board and Controller

Iravan Hira and Peter Velev were elected to the Board, and Gilbert McCaul's term was renewed

The Annual General Meeting of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF) took place on 31 May 2023 at Grand Hotel Sofia.

Delegates included CEOs and top managers of nearly 60 member companies of BBLF’s responsible business community*.

At the opening, ChairLevon Hampartzoumian thanked them all for their support and trust throughout the previous year and emphasised their active role in creating economic and social well-being: "With our joint efforts, we are promoting business ethics, sustainable development and best practice of responsible companies. For many years now we have been changing Bulgaria for the better to make it the country we would all want to invest, work and live in."

BBLF Executive Director George Ruitchev reported on the activities and projects implemented in the past period and presented the strategy for development and major activities planned in the current year. The General Assembly also voted to adopt all financial reports for the reported periodthat were presented (reports and related documents).

The event’s major moment were the elections of two Management Board members among three candidates, and of Controller where there was one nomination. The nominees presented their ideas on how they would contribute to BBLF.

All present representatives of BBLF member companies had the right to vote. The delegates re-elected as a member of the Board Peter Velev, CEO of Ecopharm, a Bulgarian pharmaceutical company. Iravan Hira, managing director of The Financial Times Bulgaria, one of the leading news organisations in the world, rejoins the Board after his three successful terms at the helm of BBLF (two as Chairand one as Deputy Chair). Long-serving Controller Gilbert McCaul (KPMG Bulgaria) was reelected and will keep monitoring our finances. Congratulations! We wish them every success in their new tenures.

A networking cocktail allowed CEOs of some of the largest and most successful companies in Bulgaria to meet and mingle.
