Business leaders raised BGN 150,000 in the fourth edition of the joint initiative of BBLF and Teach for Bulgaria
The Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF) coorganised the unconventional Inspirational Leaders Charity Auction in support of Teach for Bulgaria for the fourth year. The event was held on 25 November 2015 at Hilton Sofia.
The attending representatives of over 50 companies raised BGN 150 000. A big thank you to everyone: guests, participants in the charity auction and lottery , sponsors and partners, celebrities and hosts who made the event the most successful one so far.
The amount raised will support the work of Teach for Bulgaria, a not-for-profit organisation on a mission to facilitate access to quality education for every child in Bulgaria.
Iravan Hira, BBLF chairman, said at the opening: "We thank all members and friends of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum who honoured our invitation to join us for this unique event. I am happy and proud that the worthy cause of equal access to education enjoys a growing number of followers. Their support is indicative of the highly responsible attitude of businesses to the nation's future."
"Our event is not just a fun opportunity to meet incredible people and earn a chance to spend more time with them but a gathering of like-minded people who understand the importance of purposeful acts in order to change the future of Bulgarian children by attracting and supporting young leaders with our experience, dedication and resources ," Teach for Bulgaria executive director Evgenia Peeva said at the start of the charity auction.
Guests who were endlessly entertained by TV stars Vasil Zueka Vasilev and Dimitar Rachkov had the chance to bid for the time of popular and inspiring individuals: musical stars, sports champions, entrepreneurs and professionals in various fields.
The star list included Beloslava, Hilda Kazasyan, Stefka Kostadinova, Ivet Lalova, Veselin Topalov, Ostava, Vesko Eshkenazy. Some of the stars, namely Poli Genova, Sanya Jekova, Nencho Balabanov, Boyan Petrov, Georgi Toshev, entrepreneurs Vasil Terziev and Svetozar Georgiev (Telerik) and Dragomir Kouzov (Drag Bicycles) were in the room and urged guests to bid for them. The highest price was offered for Nencho Balabanov, BGN 33,000, Boyan Petrov, BGN 15,000 and Sanya Zhekova, BGN 14,000.
Each of the 19 celebrities will donate two hours to share their talent and expertise with the companies that offered the best price. Bidders included AstraZeneca, Dundee Precious Metals Chelopech, Penkov, Markov & Partners, J Point, Coca Cola, Petar Duchev Dental Clinic and many more. Three lucky winners won prizes in the charitable raffle – two hours with prominent experts on healthy eating and fitness.
The Inspirational Leaders Charity Auction was supported by AstraZeneca, Bankya mineral water, Tohun wine cellar, Kinstellar Bulgaria, Sofia Airport Centre, Creative Solutions, Special Events Group, J Point.
