BBLF Grand Charity Ball raises 15 000 leva in less than 3 hours!

15 000 leva will be donated to the I Want a Baby Foundation and the National Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment for Oncology in Sofia as a result of the third Grand Charity Ball of BBLF. Over 70 BBLF members and friends participated in a charity auction featuring interesting and attractive items. The item that caused the most intensive bidding competition was the tennis racket donated by Grigor Dimitrov from his memorable game in 2009 with world № 1 Rafael Nadal. Mr. Maxim Behar, Director of M3 Communications became the owner of the valuable item.

The funds raised from the Grand Cahrity Ball will be used for in-vitro procedures of couples with reproductive problems in the country who are not subject to state funding of the donor program and to fund free examinations for prevention of breast cancer. BBLF supports these two causes, because they represent the creation and preservation of human life. The total amount raised from the Charity Ball and donated to these two causes in three years is 52,000 lv.

Among the official guests of the event was Mrs. Radina Velcheva, President of the I Want a Baby Foundation. The traditional Grand Charity Ball has already contributed through the Foundation for the funding of in vitro procedures of couples, as a result of which three children are born and one more is on the way soon. "I am extremely happy and proud that unlike last year, this year the families who have been helped are not embarrassed to share that they have a problem and that they will fight it," said Ms. Velcheva referring to the three families present at Ball.

The National Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment for Oncology is the other  beneficiary of the Grand Charity Ball. This year, the donated funds will be used for the mamovan, a vehicle with the latest and most modern equipment. The best specialists will go to remote parts of Bulgaria to monitor women that otherwise probably could not afford to be examined. As a result of the donated funds of the Grand Charity Ball last year, 593 women took advantage of free breast cancer screens. Of those 9 women were diagnosed with malignant cancer, 133 with benign breast cancer and 33 had symptoms of cancer.

"Thank you once again for supporting these two major causes associated with creating, saving and prolonging human life”, said Ms. Zoya Paunova, CEO of AstraZeneca Bulgaria, a company with  long time involvement with civic organizations in the country for prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.
