Business partnerships are the key for the successful development of Bulgaria in the European Union

Top executives met at a business breakfast organized by the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum to discuss with HE Karel van Kesteren, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and HE Anton Pakuretu, Ambassador of Romania, the possibilities for business partnerships in the context of the EU and the expectations of the foreign business in Bulgaria.

"To continue to attract foreign investment, Bulgaria needs to improve its image as a reliable business partner. This can be achieved with the elimination of organized crime and corrupt practices in the country" stated HE Karel van Kesteren, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He noted that the prosperity of a country greatly depends on the business climate in which companies develop their business. The Ambassador added that the overall Dutch business representatives have no complaints of the business environment, but are frustrated by the numerous procedures and bureaucracy at the local level, impeding the business development.

HE Anton Pakuretu, Ambassador of Romania, stressed the need to stimulate the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Romania. Both neighboring countries should take advantage of the numerous opportunities for business partnerships and bilateral projects financed by the European Union. HE Pakuretu stated that two bridges are planned to be constructed within the next 3 to 5 years over the Danube, linking the two countries at the cities of Oryahovo and Silistra. The deepening of the business relations between the two countries are demonstrated in the statistics for the past year in which 1 million Romanians visited Bulgaria. That number is expected to continue to grow in 2010.

In conclusion of the meeting, Ms Maria Shishkova, Chair of BBLF, greeted the two ambassadors for their new assignments in Bulgaria and noted that the business representatives of the Netherlands and Romania can always rely on BBLF as an honest and benevolent partner.
