"Facing Realities: Getting Down to Business"  - UN Global Compact Leaders Summit

The UN Global Compact Leaders Summit - chaired by the UN Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon in Geneva on 5-6 July 2007 - will offer a historic opportunity to demonstrate how business engagement in the UN Global Compact contributes to creating sustainable markets and inclusive societies around the world. It will be a historic gathering of top executives (CEO level) of participating companies, heads of international labour, civil society and UN agencies, and high-ranking government officials. The Summit - with the theme "Facing Realities - Getting Down to Business" will provide a platform for leaders to focus on the merging set of risks and opportunities at the vortex of globalization. It will be a working Summit, designed to help leaders find and scale up solutions so that global markets can be more sustainable, dynamic, and inclusive.

Approximately 1 000 participants consisting of Heads of State, CEOs, the UN Secretary-General, UN agency Heads, government Ministers and leaders of civil society are expected to attend the Summit This triennial event will be the UN's largest gathering of business leaders. The design and format of the Leader's Summit seek to maximize interaction between participants.
