On how we gave wings
February 01, 2012
The repeated success of one of the most significant events on BBLF’s calendar – the Grand Charity Ball, was once again achieved thanks to the generous support of BBLF members and friends.
This year was collected a considerable amount of money - 18 000 leva, most of which accumulated due to the active participation of the guests of the event during the traditional charity auction with donated items.
Among the most attractive items at the auction was a luxurious cruise in the Mediterranean sea on the board of the most spectacular European cruise ships ever built - MSC Splendida. This unique journey that awakened the adventurous spirit of the audience, was provided by USIT Colours - one of the biggest and most progressive tourist agencies in Bulgaria, a dedicated BBLF member of many years. Ms. Maria Shishkova, BBLF Chairperson and Managing Partner of AIMS Human Capital for Bulgaria and Macedonia, won the bidding and will have the pleasure to enjoy this amazing experience.
Ms. Shishkova was also a donator of another attractive offer for the auction. She provided a specialized team training of Dale Carnegie Training and personally committed herself to conduct it. Most insistent in the bidding was Ms. Zoya Paunova, CEO of AstraZeneca Bulgaria, thus investing in increasing skills and knowledge of her own team.
One of the most refined auction items was an aquarelle by Svetlin Roussev, painted in the early 1980s. It was donated by Mr. Lavren Petrov, owner of Loran gallery and grandson of Tsanko Lavrenov. After a contested and emotional bidding the proud owner of the drawing became Mr. Maxim Behar, Vice Chairman of BBLF and CEO of M3 Communications Group.
Significant contribution to the sum collected in less than three hours, had companies that purchased whole gala dinner tables - AstraZeneca, CEZ Bulgaria, Chelopech Mining and GlaxoSmithKline.
The business leaders once again proved that generosity does not depend on wealth, but is a state of mind. Even in times of declining budgets and economic recession.
