108 corporate entries with a cause vie for the 2019 Responsible Business Awards, this country’s most prominent corporate social responsibility and sustainability contest that the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum organises for the 17th year. 78 companies from all sectors have entered their good examples of investments in people, nature and the community in the Awards’ six categories. The most hotly contested of all six categories is Investor in the community with the record-high 38 entries.
The Annual 2019 Responsible Business Awards, this country’s most prominent corporate social responsibility and sustainability contest recognize the good practices of companies in support of social good projects in education, healthcare, the environment, talent development and regional communities. The aim of BBLF is to promote the private sector’s contribution to a fair society and a sustainable future.
This year’s edition saw 108 entries in six categories. The most contested one is Investor in the Community with 38 entries, showing a considerable growth of 36% as compared to 2018. The Investor in Knowledge category drew 24 entries. Thirteen projects compete for the Investor in the Environment category, where finalists get an additional accolade by running in the European Business Awards for the Environment coordinated in Bulgaria by BBLF. A total of 13 entries were submitted in the Investor in Human Capital and Working Conditions category, and 8 companies contend the Best Social Policy of SME award.
The Awards which are open to all companies regardless of their size and sector and BBLF membership represent a broader picture of CSR campaigns of responsible companies. More than 100 projects have been entered each year over the last three years, and 2019 saw the biggest number of companies that entered the contest, 78.
All nominees get the recognition they deserve for their campaigns in support of social good. In addition they have the chance to share their experience in CSR and stand a good chance of stimulating other businesses to follow suit in offering solutions to social issues.
Winners are determined by a renowned panel of judges featuring prominent experts in various fields to secure an objective assessment. Assessment criteria include specific benefits to the community; work in partnership with other stakeholders; employee involvement; consistency; innovation and public recognition.
The British Embassy in Sofia selects the winner of the special Engage award celebrating employee involvement in a CSR campaign. All entries in all categories are eligible for it.
Finalists and winners will be announced at a formal award-giving ceremony on 27 February 2020. The event also features a short review of all entries, and their summaries will later get published in our online CSR platform.
