The purpose of the initiative, organised by Prescription and the Bulgarian Association for Personalized Medicine (BAPEMED), is to once again bring together leading Bulgarian and international experts focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, catalyzing the growth and development of the Bulgarian and Southeastern European biotechnological ecosystem. The founders of BIOTECH ATELIER are convinced in the potential of life sciences and biotechnology, and believe that the key to successful development of the environment lies in the international collaboration between science and industry. Both sides will have the opportunity for a direct dialogue on the day of the event. The idea is to make the Atelier an annual event and maximise its scope and reach, both locally and internationally.
Leading scientists, entrepreneurs, business leaders, visionaries, futurists, investors, professionals and experts working in the area of biotechnology will attend the conference.
The first edition of the BIOTECH ATELIER in 2018 gathered 220+ participants from 15 countries. In addition, key topics will be related to: personalised medicine, biomarkers and concomitant diagnostics, 'Big Data' from drug use (RWD / RWE), biobanking, patient engagement and placement at the healthcare center and system, patient advocacy , clinical trials, international partnerships and projects, funding opportunities and many, many more. Organizsers and participants will also look for ways to collaborate with IT experts, following the leading international trends.
The experts at the Biotech Atelier's final session will exchange ideas, experiences and suggestions in a discussion aimed to answer the fundamental question of the event: "Could biotechnology form 10% of Bulgaria’s GDP?".
Participants will have the unique opportunity to meet with and gain expertise from the list of one-of-a-kind speakers, which will allow them to raise and lead a discussion in their field.
This year, the Biotech Atelier will also organise 2 additional events - for Intellectual Property and Technological Transfer on 24 September (organised with the British Embassy) and for Computer Validation in the GMP regulatory standard (organised by Pharmalex Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Association of Qualified Persons) on 2-3 October.
The huge interest in the Biotech Atelier in 2019 reflects in the serious number of sponsors, confirmed so far: the pharmaceutical offices of Pfizer, Novartis, Astellas, Amgen, Roche, MSD in Bulgaria, Pharmalex Bulgaria, SGP Biodynamics, NM Genomix. Several other potential sponsors are in the process of negotiation.
